I am posting this song because it is just too damn moving.
It is on the soundtrack to the Marc Webb film 500 Days of Summer, an excellent movie which positions this song incredibly beautifully in the storyline, and adds another dimension (or two!) to the lyrics.
November 3, 2009, Middletown, NJ – In an unprecedented and historic move, Chris Christie put pen to paper last week and made an official campaign promise to citizens of New Jersey in support of vaccination choice. He further cemented his position on live radio with Don Imus, by becoming the first gubernatorial candidate to utter the words vaccines, autism and parental choice in the same sentence. Vaccine choice supporters showed up in record numbers tonight to cast their vote for Christie.

Many of us suspect that we had seen a better world than this one, our true home somewhere we had been living. Our desire for excellence, for peace, for enlightenment, for wisdom and love is the vague reminiscence of that perfect place we had come from.
Our craving for great architecture, aesthetic surroundings, comfort, and loving relationships stems from the forgotten source of abundance. It is as if we are constantly comparing the two states, but rarely feeling full contentment.
Our yearning for profound connections is always inside us, but this world often does not meet our expectations. Even those who completely forgot our past keep on striving for perfection as a compass.
But those who vividly remember it, as I had in my childhood, experience conflicting emotions, on one hand, reassurance about our infinite destiny and the purpose of our earthly journey, on another hand – missing our home, and the sharp contrasts between different dimensions.
No matter what hardships we endure here, it is probable that we forgot that long time ago we ourselves had volunteered to experience them. Only if we participated in making such decisions, life could truly be just. And why exactly we decided to experience so many difficulties and even tragedies I do not remember.
However, I believe we are not given more than we had agreed upon. Sometimes we are given more than we can handle, perhaps for the purpose of changing others, since our wisdom depends on the growth of everyone.

Nurses: We're not taking it.
SEATTLE – A union representing 16,000 registered nurses in Washington state has filed a federal lawsuit against MultiCare Health System for implementing a mandatory flu vaccination policy.
“This new policy will force nurses to get the flu vaccination or to wear face masks as a condition of employment and may result in the firing of nurses who do not comply with the policy,” the union said in a statement.

B.C. might suspend seasonal flu shots as early as Monday for people who aren’t seniors, in the wake of a Canadian study that suggests people who get the normal flu vaccine are twice as likely to contract the H1N1 virus.
Several news outlets have reported the preliminary findings of the study, which is still under peer review. Researchers found that those who received the seasonal flu vaccine in the past were more likely to catch H1N1.
While the research was initially met with much skepticism from health officials, several provinces, including Quebec, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Nova Scotia, have suspended seasonal flu shots for anyone younger than 65, the Globe and Mail newspaper is reporting in its Monday editions.

65% of French nurses will refuse the vaccine.
According to a survey by the French national union of professionally qualified nurses (SNPI CFE-CGC), 65% of all nurses in France will refuse the “swine flu” vaccine over safety concerns.
The results of a survey of 4,107 nurses which was conducted on September 16th show that only 26% of French nurses will accept the H1N1 vaccine with a further 9% still undecided.
The protests of nurses appear to be impacting on the French Health Minister, who has indicated she might drop plans to give vaccines with adjuvants to pregnant women.
